Construction Safety Officer – Join Our Safety Team

At Strelka Safety Solutions, our mission is to protect life and productivity by delivering comprehensive safety coverage, regulatory readiness, and responsive on-site support. Our vision is to empower companies with proactive safety systems that protect their people - so every worker, on every project, returns home healthier and safer than when they arrived.

We’re currently seeking experienced Construction Safety Officers (CSO/NCSO) to join our team and provide professional safety leadership across active construction projects throughout British Columbia.

What You’ll Do

As a Construction Safety Officer with Strelka, you’ll serve as a front-line safety professional, supporting clients by maintaining compliance, identifying hazards, and reinforcing a strong safety culture on site. Typical schedules are Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays depending on project needs. Shifts generally range from 8–12 hours per day.

Most assignments are located throughout the Okanagan, though select projects may offer remote work opportunities. You’ll work closely with site supervision, workers, and project stakeholders to ensure safety systems are implemented effectively without disrupting productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate muster lists and worker headcounts
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, provincial legislation, and client-specific Occupational Health & Safety programs
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations
  • Educate workers on proper safety procedures, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation
  • Undertake incident investigations, including documentation and corrective action tracking
  • Communicate directly with WorkSafeBC on behalf of our clients as required
  • Identify compliance issues and trends, and implement corrective measures proactively
  • Provide first aid treatment and emergency response when required
  • Assist with inspections, hazard assessments, and safety documentation
  • Utilize Procore to support safety reporting and coordination

Strelka emphasizes proactive safety leadership. The more effective and engaged safety planning is on the front end; the less reactive emergency response is required on the back end. Our goal is to prevent incidents before they occur, not simply respond to them after the fact.

Who You Are

You are a professional, disciplined safety leader who aligns with Strelka’s values. You understand that effective safety does not come at the expense of productivity and that strong safety systems support efficient, successful projects. You lead with credibility, communicate clearly, and consistently represent Strelka and our clients with professionalism.

We are only seeking CSOs who take pride in their work, respect the realities of construction schedules, and are committed to keeping every worker safe without compromising our clients’ production goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced First Aid (formerly OFA Level 3)
  • EMR, PCP, or ACP are considered assets and must be licensed and registered to practice emergency medicine in British Columbia
  • CSO or NCSO certification
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Familiarity with Procore
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Assets

  • Additional safety certifications such as H2S Alive, Traffic Control, or other relevant industry training
  • Experience working on commercial or multi-employer construction sites
